Out of Eden: Still A Sister Act

For the last ten years, the Kimmey sisters have been setting a new standard in Christian pop music. The three siblings who make up the group Out of Eden have sold over a million albums and have shared the stage with some of the music industry’s most influential acts, both with Christian and mainstream audiences. Their success is not just attributed to their undeniable talent, but also a chemistry that can be heard through their vocally driven music.

Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, the girls sang together at church events together developing a style that not only reflects their spiritually inspired song writing but also their affinity for R&B soul and urban beats. Soon, Kimmey sisters’ singing caught the ears of executives at Gotee Records who would help Out of Eden release their first album.

The record was an overwhelming success that propelled the group into national stardom. Since then the trio has been featured on prime-time TV shows, contributed songs for major motion pictures and has shared the stage with everyone from Billy Graham to Destiny’s Child.

Out of Eden’s six albums have explored a variety of sounds that range from their soulful debut Lovin’ the Day, to 2002’s beat-fueled This is Your Life, to their latest, Hymns in which the sisters’ cover classic worship songs. Hymns takes the group full circle with its collection of church favorites. The album mixes traditional Christian songs with the progressive urban flair that Out of Eden is known for.

Though the three sisters have experienced international success and continue to grow even more popular after a decade of performing, they still remember what’s important to them. Whether its on their latest album or at a sold-out show, it is obvious that Out of Eden still puts God first and never forgets what it means to be a family.
