Bryan Jennings Knows About Walking on Water

Bryan Jennings Knows About Walking on WaterBryan Jennings is on a mission. His non-profit outreach-focused group, Walking on Water, has reached thousands of young people around the world with its unique approach to teaching the gospel. As a former professional surfer, Jennings uses the lifestyle he knows best to get into the lives of the wave riding masses around the world and help change them forever.

Jennings’ career in surfing started when he was just eighteen years old. After taking home two major contest victories, the young west-coast star was offered major sponsorships and a spot on the profession tour. It was just two weeks before the professional breakthrough that Jennings experienced a major personal breakthrough when he gave his life to Christ. His new mission became greater than competitive surfing; he would use his time in the spotlight to share his new passion, telling others about the love of God. It was this calling that led Jennings to found Walking on Water.

Walking on Water started as a group that would host high school age surfers on overnight surfing camps where they would learn more than just tips to develop their skills on the surf board. Jennings and his friends would use the camp as a forum to share the message of God’s love and purpose to the young surfers.

It’s been ten years since the first overnight camp, and Walking on Water has exploded into a multi-faceted organization that is changing lives, in and out of the water. Today it sponsors five-day surf outings for jr. and sr. highers, as well as day outings for kids of all ages in the San Diego area. Though their vision for touching the lives of their campers has remained the same, Walking on Water is continually growing and finding news ways to use surfing in evangelism.

The organization has produced and released three surf videos that have featured other pro riders sharing their faith and displaying their skills surfing on some of the best waves in the world. Walking on Water’s latest video, Noah’s Arc, is the testimony of east coast surf hero Noah Snyder. The video became a huge hit and has spawned tours around the country with appearances by other big-name pros like CJ Hobgood and Matt Beacham.

With his laid-back personality, genuine passion for reaching youth and killer skills on the surfboard, Bryan Jennings knows a think or two about walking on water.
