Jake's Blog

Jake's Blog I was reminded the other day of the story of the Israelites and their exodus from Egypt. You see, when God's people left Egypt, they left with all the treasure as well. Now this treasure was intended for the tabernacle, it was to be reserved for that purpose. Well, if you read on in exodus, you'll find that they end up losing hope, and melting down all the gold to make a golden calf they could pray to. This passage really challenged me! It was bad enough that they made a stupid idol to worship, but what's worse is they used the gold that was intended for God! It really got me thinking and realizing that I need to recognize what idols I hold in my life and then, I need to "melt them down" and give them back to God. He has purpose for us, and in us. Let's not be distracted by our surroundings! And let's not take the gifts God has for us to distract us. They're best used for their purpose, Him.
